St John’s U16s closes festival with a win of 42–26 over Northcliff

Home side showcases attacking flair and resilience to outplay Northcliff in high-scoring U16 clash.

St John’s College closed out their St John’s Easter Rugby Festival campaign with a commanding 42–26 win over Northcliff High, showcasing attacking flair, home-ground confidence, and resilience under pressure.

The hosts struck early, crossing the try line just seven minutes in to lead 7–0.

By the 23rd minute, they had doubled their advantage to 14–0 through sharp execution and territorial control.

Northcliff responded with a try before the break, but St John’s maintained a 14–5 lead heading into halftime.

St John’s came out firing in the second half, quickly extending their lead to 21–5.

With momentum on their side, they piled on further tries to take a commanding 35–12 lead after 14 minutes of play.

Northcliff fought back with grit and power, scoring twice to close the gap to 35–26 and inject tension into the closing stages.

However, the home side remained composed, sealing the game with a final try before the whistle to end a thrilling match 42–26.
